We are proud to announce the following changes:
New Name — Reader™ Store
Starting December 11th, The eBook Store from Sony will become Reader™ Store. You will be able to find us at our new address, readerstore.sony.com. While our name may be changing, all current features including the availability to purchase thousands of popular eBooks will remain the same as will our commitment to expanding our selection and offering great prices.
New Format — EPUB
As part of our commitment to providing an open format solution to our customers, we will now offer our entire inventory of eBooks in the EPUB format. EPUB is an open eBook format with a layout that is optimized for the Reader™ and your computer. You will still be able to read, access, and transfer any eBooks you have previously downloaded. However, any new purchases or re-downloads of previously purchased titles will now be available only in EPUB.
New Reader™ Library — Version 3.1
Also available on December 11th will be Reader™ Library software version 3.1 for the PC and Macintosh. With the new Reader Library 3.1 software, you will be able to take advantage of all the great EPUB content on Reader™ Store. In addition to several enhancement and performance improvements, the update will include:
• Support for the soon-to-be released Reader Daily Edition™
• Support for Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Operating Systems.
As a result of these changes, The eBook Store from Sony will be unavailable for a short period of time starting Thursday, December 10th at 2:00pm PST. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience. Please visit the Reader™ Store on December 11th to download the new Reader Library 3.1 software and browse for your next great read!
